- Duration: ~3 weeks
- Service Provided: Kitchen Renovation
- Project Area: ~130 sq ft
This Mississauga kitchen renovation focused on building a durable, waterproof, and stylish cooking space.
Homeowners wanted peace of mind knowing that water spills, humidity, and everyday wear wouldn’t damage the floors or cabinetry.
Reno Mumu designed and executed the entire remodel with moisture protection as a top priority — from subfloor preparation to tile and plumbing integration.
Design Goals
- Install waterproof flooring with high moisture resistance and easy cleaning.
- Enhance lighting and ventilation for better comfort and functionality.
- Reinforce plumbing & electrical safety in wet zones.
- Upgrade storage with custom cabinetry and quartz countertops.
- Achieve a clean, cohesive look using neutral tones and modern finishes.
Waterproof Flooring: Key to Long-Term Durability
Kitchens in humid climates like Mississauga face water exposure daily — from cooking, mopping, or plumbing leaks.
That’s why the foundation of this renovation centered around waterproof vinyl composite flooring (SPC), supported by multiple protection layers:
- Subfloor leveling: ensured flatness within ±2 mm tolerance.
- Vapor barrier membrane: prevented moisture wicking from the slab.
- SPC plank flooring: 100% waterproof core with a slip-resistant surface.
- Sealed expansion joints: color-matched silicone for seamless transitions near cabinets.
Unlike traditional laminate or wood floors, this system resists swelling, warping, and mold — perfect for busy family kitchens.
Other Important Renovation Considerations
