Project #6225 — Mississauga, Ontario

Quick Facts

  • Location: Mississauga (Project 6225)
  • Duration: ~2 months
  • Service Provided: Bathroom Renovation
  • Project Area: ~1,850 sq ft (home, bathroom focus)

Homeowners in Mississauga wanted to refresh their master bathroom with a sleek, hotel-inspired design.
The goal: combine modern circular LED lighting with spa-level functionality — achieving a bright, seamless, and low-maintenance environment.
Reno Mumu delivered a complete rebuild — from demolition and waterproofing to final electrical inspection — within two months.

Design Goals

  1. Circular LED lighting as the visual centerpiece.
  2. Walk-in shower with frameless 10 mm glass and linear drain.
  3. Floating vanity with quartz countertop and integrated LED mirror.
  4. Durable materials: large-format tiles, moisture-resistant paint, and matte black fixtures.
  5. Improved ventilation and humidity control for long-term durability.

Before & Planning

The previous ensuite used outdated acrylic panels, poor ventilation, and a dim single light fixture.
We redesigned the layout to widen the shower zone, relocate the vanity for better traffic flow, and add dedicated lighting zones.

Electrical plans included new circuit runs for the LED mirror and overhead ceiling ring lights, ensuring each zone was on a dimmer for customizable brightness.

Materials & Specifications

Lighting & Electrical

  • Circular LED mirror with back-glow halo (3000 K warm white).
  • Ceiling ring LED fixtures, CRI ≥ 90 for accurate color rendering.
  • Humidity-controlled exhaust fan, 110 CFM, ≤ 1 sone.
  • GFCI and ARC-fault protected circuits for safety.

Shower System

  • 10 mm tempered glass panel + door with matte black hardware.
  • Waterproofed cement board + liquid membrane (reinforced corners and niche).
  • 24″ quartz shelf and niche sill with integrated slope for drainage.
  • 12×24 porcelain wall tiles, 2×2 mosaic floor tiles for grip.

Vanity & Fixtures

  • 48″ floating vanity in walnut finish with soft-close drawers.
  • Countertop: white quartz (1¼″) + undermount sink.
  • Faucet & trim: matte black with ceramic valve core.
  • Toilet: elongated bowl, dual-flush, comfort height.

Flooring & Paint

  • Heated floor (optional add).
  • Porcelain tile with crack-isolation membrane.
  • Moisture-resistant paint on walls and ceiling (low VOC).

Process & Timeline

Week 1–2 — Demolition & rough-in
Removed old tub, drywall, and flooring. Reframed the shower wall and installed new fan duct.

Week 3–4 — Waterproofing & tiling
Applied liquid membrane, checked slope to drain, tiled walls and floor with rectified porcelain.

Week 5–6 — Lighting & finishes
Installed LED mirror and ceiling lights, mounted vanity and quartz top, finished silicone joints, and performed ESA inspection.

Total time on site: ~2 months (8 weeks).

Challenges & Solutions

  • Space optimization. Adjusted plumbing stack to widen the shower without affecting structural walls.
  • Lighting placement. Balanced mirror and ceiling LEDs for consistent illumination with no shadow zones.
  • Humidity control. Installed an intelligent vent fan and sealed corners using color-matched silicone.
  • Finish precision. Used laser alignment for tile cuts and fixture mounting for a clean minimal look.

Investment Range (Guide Only)

A bathroom renovation of this scope typically ranges $22 k – $35 k + HST, depending on tile selection, lighting brand, and custom millwork.
