Kitchen Projects · ·Updated Jul 02, 2025 · Mississauga, ON

Project 6225: Mississauga kitchen renovation designed to create a sense of space and light. Open layout, reflective materials, and bright tones turn a compact kitchen into a wide, modern environment.

Project #6225 — Mississauga, Ontario

Quick Facts

  • Location: Mississauga (Project 6225)
  • Duration: ~3 weeks
  • Service Provided: Kitchen Renovation
  • Project Area: ~125 sq ft

For many Mississauga homeowners, the challenge isn’t just updating the kitchen — it’s making a limited space feel open, bright, and connected.
Reno Mumu transformed this kitchen through strategic layout planning, reflective finishes, and carefully placed lighting to achieve an expansive and inviting atmosphere without increasing the footprint.

Design Concept — Expanding the Space Visually

The homeowners wanted the kitchen to feel twice as large while maintaining comfort and warmth.
We achieved this illusion of openness through smart design proportions, materials, and sightline control.

Key Principles:

  1. Open layout with partial wall removal to connect kitchen and dining areas.
  2. Unified flooring across the main floor to visually elongate the space.
  3. Light-reflective finishes in soft white and pearl gray to enhance brightness.
  4. Streamlined cabinetry without upper handles for a clean, continuous line.
  5. Warm LED lighting to maintain coziness while expanding perceived depth.

Materials & Color Coordination

Cabinetry

  • Custom matte-white upper cabinets with soft-close drawers.
  • Lower units in light-gray veneer for two-tone balance.
  • Vertical grain pattern to draw the eye upward and increase visual height.

Countertop & Backsplash

  • Quartz slab with faint marbling, full-height backsplash to eliminate grout lines.
  • Seamless transition from countertop to wall enhances depth and continuity.

Flooring

  • 9″ wide engineered oak planks, laid parallel to the longest wall for flow.
  • Continuous installation through dining area to make the space feel unified.

Lighting

  • 3000 K recessed ceiling LEDs for warm, uniform brightness.
  • Linear under-cabinet lighting for shadow-free prep areas.
  • One minimalist pendant over the peninsula for spatial focus.

Planning & Renovation Process

1️⃣ Week 1 — Site Preparation & Layout Framing

  • Removed upper wall separating kitchen and dining space.
  • Verified structural beam support and re-routed electrical wiring.
  • Updated plumbing rough-ins to fit new sink island layout.

2️⃣ Week 2 — Flooring & Cabinet Installation

  • Installed subfloor leveling compound to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Laid continuous engineered flooring throughout the kitchen zone.
  • Mounted base and wall cabinets, adjusted to laser alignment.

3️⃣ Week 3 — Countertop, Lighting & Finishing Touches

  • Set quartz counters and backsplash in a single piece for a seamless surface.
  • Installed warm LED lighting layers for balance between task and ambient zones.
  • Completed trim work, painting, and inspection before client handover.
